    Club History

It was back in 1977 that Allan Wolfe of Millville, New Jersey, saw the need for a Cycling Club in Southern part of New Jersey. With a handful of friends in the Millville/Vineland area and with help from the League of American Bicyclists , he formed the South Jersey Wheelmen. During the past 20 years we have grown, and have expanded to Cumberland, Cape May, Salem, Camden, Atlantic and Gloucester Counties.

The original purpose of the South Jersey Wheelmen was to serve the recreational and touring bicyclist, and we continue with that purpose today. Throughout the year, we have Club rides on each Saturday and Sunday and during the summer, we also have various weekly rides. All rides are posted in advance in The Spoke'n Word. The distances and difficulty of each ride are noted in the newsletter an an effort is made to serve each member's desire and ability.

Join us at our meetings or on Club rides - you'll find new bicycling friends and enjoy bicycling more than ever.
